Funeral services for B C Ladd, 71, of Lufkin will be held Thursday, March 11, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Blackie Cranford officiating. Interment will follow in the Gann Cemetery.
Mr. Ladd was born July 1, 1938 in Apple Springs, Texas to the late Garvis (Burnett) and Fred Ladd, and died Monday, March 8, 2010 at his residence.
Mr. Ladd was a lifetime resident of Angelina County. He was a graduate of Central High School and retired from the Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Lufkin as Sales Manager following 44 years of service as a dedicated employee. Mr. Ladd also served on the Redland Water Board for many years.
Mr. Ladd was a loving husband, devoted dad and grandpa, special brother and uncle, and a good friend. He loved outside work and working hard. Mr. Ladd enjoyed taking care of his chickens, geese, ducks and other animals. His children and grandchildren liked working for him on home projects and helping him care for his animals. Mr. Ladd was also an avid Lufkin Panthers fan, supported local sports, and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his loving wife, Joy Ladd of Lufkin; children, Earl Pixley of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Terry Spangler and husband Danny of Lufkin, Cindy A. Harmon of Toledo, Ohio, Suzannah Versage and husband Vince of Cedar Park, Cindy D. McNatt and husband Kenneth of Coldspring, Stephanie Mote and husband Roy of Wheatland, Wyoming, Bobby Ladd and wife Sandra of Lufkin, Mary Smith and husband Roger of Cedar Park, and Samuel Pixley of Austin; grandchildren, Vanessa, Karyn, Geoffrey, Nicolas, Joshua, Milfred, Collin, Dale and Macy; five great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Helen Ladd of Pollok; sisters and brothers-in-law, Fannie and Glen Cox, Ollie and Gerald Bundrick, Juanita and Elvin Lewis, and Daisy Anthony, all of Lufkin; sisters-in-law and husbands, Norma and Harlan Sparks of Fallsburg, Kentucky and Phyllis and Don Cunningham of Pataskala, Ohio; brother-in-law, Jack Adams of Columbus, Ohio; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Ladd was preceded in death by his brother, Bobby Ladd.
Pallbearers will be Ronny Baker, Eldon Fuller, Russell Julian, Charles Murphy, John Dorsett, David Terry, Mike Stokes and James Littlefield.
Honorary pallbearers will be Buddy Beavers, Rodney Brazil, Cecil Muckelroy, Tucker Weems, employees of the Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Lufkin, and members of the Redland Water Board.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cardiovascular Unit at Woodland Heights Medical Center, 505 South John Redditt Drive, Lufkin, Texas 75904.
The family extends special thanks to Doctors Ravinder Bachireddy, John McClain, Imran Nazeer, Prashant Kumar, Muhammad Mir, and the entire staff of Woodland Heights Medical Center.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
