Funeral services for Wiley Thaddeus ""Thad"" Russell, 58, of Lufkin, will be held Monday, April 18, 2011, at 3:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Pastor Tom Pickett officiating. Interment will follow in the Largent Cemetery.

Mr. Russell was born January 15, 1953, in Lufkin, Texas, to the late Susie Murel (Goodman) and Arta Russell. He died Wednesday, April 13, 2011 in Pennsylvania from injuries sustained in an accident.

Mr. Russell was a truck driver for Maverick Transportation, and had lived in Lufkin most of his life. Thad was a wonderful, true-to-life, one of a kind man who touched many lives. He enjoyed music of all kinds, telling jokes, showing off the latest family pictures, and swapping sports stories from yesteryear. He loved competing in truck driving competitions, where he held the national title on several occasions. While trucking was his passion, his family was his world.

Survivors include his wife, Jacquelyn Russell of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Laura Russell of Tomball; daughter, Jenna Murel Russell of Lufkin; grandson, J.B. Russell of Tomball; sisters and brothers-in-law, Marilyn and Dwayne Canup of Big Sandy, Judith and Larry O'Masta of Pasadena, California, Adrienne and Tom Pickett of Benbrook, and Libby and Wood Coston of Laredo; parents-in-law, Gary and Margaret Wells of Lufkin; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Annett and Quinton Berwick, Wayne and Lisa Wells, Alicia Johnson, Cary and Charlinda Wells, Lakishia Gilbert, and Aaron Wells, all of Lufkin, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and other relatives.

Pallbearers will be Dwayne Canup, Wood Coston, Quintin Berwick, Wayne Wells, Royce Fritz, Jr., and Larry Goodwin.

Honorary pallbearers are David Taber, Thomas Sholar, Ben Ebby, Richard Scherf and the entire Maverick family. To the Huntington Class of 1971, each of you had a special place in his heart.

The family will receive friends and loved ones from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
