Funeral services for Charlene D. Henson, 74, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, March 26, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Roger Hoffpowier officiating. Interment will follow in the Whitehouse Cemetery.
Mrs. Henson was born October 18, 1936 in Lufkin, Texas to Estelle (Ridgeway) and Alton Daniels, and died Tuesday, March 22, 2011 in Longview. A former resident of Kilgore, she had resided in Lufkin for 33 years. She worked in the sporting goods department of Walmart for 25 years. While living in Kilgore, Mrs. Henson was an active member of Trinity Assembly of God Church. After moving to Lufkin she joined and became active in Bethel Assembly of God Church, where she taught the toddler Sunday school class.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Charlotte and Steve Thompson and Audrey and Joe Whitten, all of Liberty City; grandsons, Blake Thompson, James Calvin Whitten, Austin Whitten, Trey Whitten, all of Liberty City, and Danny Favor of Lufkin; several great-grandchildren; and special friends, Farrah Baty and Richard Curtis, both of Hudson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, L.R. ""Skeet"" Henson; first husband, Calvin Anderson; son, James ""Bubba"" Anderson; and her parents.
Pallbearers will be David Holt, Ron Holt, Steve Thompson, Gary Bynum, Larry Seagers and Joe Whitten.
Honorary pallbearer will be Blake Thompson.
Memorial contributions may be made to Beacon Hospice at Margaret's House, 5016 Gilmer Road, Longview, Texas 75604.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
