Funeral services for Weldon E. Byrd, 99, of Lufkin will be held Friday, November 12, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jimmy Hedges and Reverend Randy Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the Whitehouse Cemetery.
Mr. Byrd was born December 14, 1910 in Huntington, Texas to the late Katherine (Hampton) and Andrew Lee Byrd, and died Tuesday, November 9, 2010 in a local hospital.
Mr. Byrd was a lifetime resident of Lufkin. He retired from the St. Regis Paper Mill following 29 years of service as a crane operator. Mr. Byrd was a member of the Lufkin Masonic Lodge #669 A.F. & A.M. for more than 60 years, and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and the Childress Adult 5 Sunday School class.
Survivors include his wife, Linda A. Byrd of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Royce and Mona Byrd of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, LaQuita Byrd and James Weaver of Splendora; grandchildren and their spouses, Cathy and Eddie McCowan of Splendora, Tammy and Robert Arismendi of Humble, Jimmy and Cissy Weaver of Splendora, Karen and Jimmy Vance of New Caney, Suzy and David Harkness, Patti and Craig Teafeatiller, Penny Byrd, all of Lufkin and Paula Byrd of Fort Worth; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Marvin Slusher, Gene Childress, Eddie McCowan, Robert Arismendi, Craig Teafeatiller and Jimmy Vance.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
