Lester Cheatham

Graveside services for Lester Cheatham, 93, of Lufkin will be held Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Berry Cemetery with Reverend Roy Hall officiating.

Mr. Cheatham was born September 6, 1917 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Emma (Bright) and Frank M. Cheatham, and died Saturday, January 22, 2011 in a local hospital.

Mr. Cheatham grew up in Lufkin, and at the age of 18 he went to work at Baker Hughes Tool Company in Houston. He retired in 1975 following 40 years of service as a machinist, and then returned to Lufkin. Mr. Cheatham was a member of Memorial Baptist Church.

Survivors include his son, Larry Cheatham of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Carol A. and Perry Orand of Brownsboro; grandchildren, Corp. Dustin Cheatham of Cherry Point, North Carolina, Abigail Cheatham of Austin, Jenniffier Mahand, M.D. of Greensville, North Carolina and Thad Mahand of Austin; brother, Larry Cheatham of Cherryvale, Kansas; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Cheatham was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Reynolds Cheatham; and numerous brothers and sisters.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday morning at the funeral home.
