Funeral services for Mary Maude Parrish Bolton, 83, of Lufkin, will be held Thursday, September 9, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Bro. Bruce Austin and Dr. Andy Pittman officiating. Interment will follow in the Union Springs Cemetery at Corrigan.
Mary Maude was born November 9, 1926 in Moscow, Texas, to the late Zaner and Musie Parrish. She died Monday, September 6, 2010 in a Lufkin hospice facility. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Corrigan for over 50 years and the First Baptist Church of Lufkin since 2006. Mary was a graduate of Corrigan High School and received her Bachelor and Master's degrees in Education from Sam Houston University. She was employed by Corrigan-Camden ISD as a first grade teacher for 32 years and as elementary principal for 11 years.
On June 1, 1947, she married Henry William ""Bill"" Bolton. During their 47-year marriage, they raised two daughters, Mary Ann and Linda. Mary was a loving, devoted wife to her husband, a loving mother to her daughters, and a very special ""Gaga"" to her three grandchildren. She was a true blessing to all who knew her.
Mary led a very active and happy life. After retirement, she loved to shop, travel, work in her yard, play canasta and rummy cube with her dear friends, and spend time with her daughters, sons-in-law and grandchildren. Her past seven years at Pinecrest were happy years as well. She was a very active participant in their many social activities, cherishing the love and support of her Pinecrest family.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Ann and Jerry Whiteker of Lufkin, and Linda and Doug Masters of Huntsville; grandchildren, Suzanne Harris and Nicholas Nerren of Spring, Luke Masters and wife Rachel of Willis; great grandchild, Linda Masters; brother, Thomas and wife Emmy Parish of Waco; sister-in-law, Lezima Bolton of Port Neches; and several nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Henry William ""Bill"" Bolton, her mother and father, Musie and Zaner Parrish, and brother-in-law, J.B. Bolton.
Pallbearers will be Lloyd Richardson, George Thannisch, Billy Mac Cockrell, Don Reily, Jimmy Phillips and David Ray. Honorary pallbearers will be Jake Sherman and John Sirman.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the care-givers of Hospice in the Pines for all their services during our time of need.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to Hospice in the Pines, 116 South Raguet Street, Lufkin, Texas 75904.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
