James A. Young

Funeral services for James A. Young, 81, of Lufkin will be held Thursday, March 4, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the Grace Baptist Church with Brother Elton Musick officiating. Interment will follow in the Parks Cemetery in Wells.
Mr. Young was born November 9, 1928 in Angelina County, Texas to the late Mazye (Williamson) and John Betty ""J.B."" Young, and died Monday, March 1, 2010 in a local hospital.
Mr. Young was a lifetime resident of Angelina County. He served in the U.S. Navy as a Gunners Mate during the Korean Conflict and retired as a maintenance supervisor from the St. Regis Paper Mill. Mr. Young was known as Papaw, and dearly loved his family. He loved to visit with family and friends. Mr. Young loved God and was the rock of his family. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Clawson.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Debbie Young and Odus Haak of Lufkin; grandchildren, David Gibson and wife Angel, Jackie Davis and husband Richard, all of Lufkin, Heather Smith and husband Matt of Pollok and Jayme Gibson of Lufkin; great-grandchildren, Chelsey Gibson, Brett Gibson, Kayla Davis of Lufkin, Lauren Brown, Hendrix Smith of Pollok, Kody Gibson and Conner Nelson, both of Lufkin; sister, Beulah Y. Grisham of Hudson; sister-in-law, LaNell Young of Lufkin; special friend, Frances Moody of Orange; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Young was preceded in death by his wife, Edwina Young; twin brother, Johnny Young; and sister, Ruth Milstead.
Pallbearers will be Matt Smith, Richard Davis, Brett Gibson, Dick Milstead, Dwight Richardson and Greg Rhodes.
Honorary pallbearers will be Roger M. Gibson, David Quine and Dwayne Richardson.
Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Baptist Church, 8319 FM 2021, Lufkin, Texas 75904.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
