Funeral services for John Fletcher Cunningham, 85, of Zavalla will be held Monday, May 17, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jacob Fitzgerald officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held in the San Jacinto Memorial Park in Houston, Texas.
Mr. Cunningham was born December 7, 1924 in Hardin (Liberty, County), Texas to the late Mary Trudy (Stone) and Frank Cunningham, and died Friday, May 14, 2010 in San Augustine, Texas.
He had resided in Zavalla for the past 28 years and formerly resided in Baytown. Mr. Cunningham was a retired pipefitter having been employed with Humble Oil/Exxon for 38 years. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of Zavalla First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Nancy Cunningham of San Augustine; daughter, Mary Susan Cunningham of Baytown; grandchildren, David and wife Courtney Cunningham of Freeport, John Cunningham, Christy Cunningham and Carrie Cunningham, all of Houston; and great-grandchildren, Zoe, Justen and Matthew Cunningham.
Pallbearers will be Joseph ""Cornbread"" Cornelius, Kenneth Gray, Kenneth Marshall, David Colwell, Wayne Oliver and David Cunningham.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon at the funeral home.
