Graveside services for James R. Westbrook, 91, of Pollok, will be held Monday, May 24, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in the Gann Cemetery with Brother Roy Hall officiating.
Mr. Westbrook was born May 14, 1919, in Angelina County, Texas, to the late Lena (Fenley) and Leslie William Westbrook. He died Friday, May 21, 2010 in a Lufkin hospital.
Mr. Westbrook had resided in Pollok all his life. He was retired from the Wood Yard at Southland Paper Mill following 30 years of service. Mr. Westbrook served with the U.S. Army's 347th Engineer Battalion during World War II. He enjoyed gardening and farming, and being with his family. He was a member and deacon at Memorial Baptist Church.
Survivors include his daughters and son-in-law, Phylis McIntyre of Pollok, Frankie and Roger Gibson of Pollok; son and daughter-in-law, Dana and Christy Westbrook of Pollok; six grandchildren and their spouses, Brad and Carol Barington, Chad and Angie Barington, Tina and Jeff Yount, Becky and Bob Simpson, Jeremy and Rachel Westbrook, and Josh and Erika Westbrook; four great grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Earl Hutson of Diboll; brother, Harold Lee Westbrook of Pollok; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Mr. Westbrook was preceded in death by his wife, Edith O'Quinn Westbrook, and sister, Frances Westbrook.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
