James Floyd Erbey

Funeral services for James Floyd ""Papa"" Erbey, Sr., 74, of Lufkin will be held Thursday, October 7, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother John Harvey and Brother Steve Hammond officiating. Interment will follow in the Largent Cemetery.

Mr. Erbey was born July 31, 1936 in Calhoun, Arkansas to the late Lola (Taylor) and Floyd Erbey, and died Sunday, October 3, 2010 at his daughter's residence.

Mr. Erbey had resided in Lufkin for 32 years and founded the Twin Pines Garage in 1978. He enjoyed his dogs, tending the church grounds, and spending time with his family, and building lawnmowers with his grandson Casey. Mr. Erbey was a member of the Lighthouse of Prayer.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Mary Erbey of Lufkin; daughters and sons-in-law, Erma Sue and Jose Hernandez, Kathy and George Ford, all of Lufkin and Tracy and Tim Fair of Shepherd, Michigan; sons and daughters-in-law, James, Jr. and Karen Erbey and Doug and Teresa Erbey, all of Lufkin; grandchildren, Shaun and Tammie Elliott, Andy and Keri Ackerman, Tasha and Jeromy Burnett, Timmy Fair and fiancee Erin Thielend, Eric and Melissa Elliott, Jonathan Erbey, Teri and Eric Cramlet, Chris and Nicole Battles, Rebecca Erbey and Casey Erbey; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Erbey was preceded in death by his grandson, William Lovett; one brother; and three sisters.

Pallbearers will be Shaun Elliott, Eric Elliott, Andy Ackerman, Jeromy Burnett, Casey Erbey, Chris Battles, Jonathan Erbey and Timmy Fair.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Horsley family, the Roam family and the Collins family.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice in the Pines, 116 South Raguet Street, Lufkin, Texas 75904.

The family extends special thanks to Tasha and Jeromy Burnett for their loving care of Papa.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
