Geraldine Ellis Bridges

Funeral services for Geraldine Ellis Bridges, 90, of Pollok will be held Sunday, August 8, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jimmy Thornton and Reverend Chris George officiating. Interment will follow in the Gann Cemetery.

Mrs. Bridges was born December 16, 1919 in Centerville, Leon County, Texas to the late Myrtie (Simms) and Russell Ellis, and died Friday, August 6, 2010 at her residence.

Mrs. Bridges resided in Angelina County most of her life. She retired from Angelina Hardwood following 22 years of employment and was the first President of the Herty P.T.A. Mrs. Bridges was a charter member of Herty Baptist Church and a current member of O'Quinn Baptist Church and the Rebecca Sunday school class.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte and Pat Allen of Pollok; grandchildren, Don Allen and wife Dawne, Beverly Smith and husband Mike and Wayne Allen, all of Central; great-grandchildren, Chase and Colby Allen, Ashley and Michaela Smith; sister-in-law, Colene Ellis of Port Aransas; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bridges was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Bill Bridges; four brothers; and three sisters.

Pallbearers will be Don Allen, Wayne Allen, Chase Allen, Colby Allen, Mike Smith and Stephen Smith.

Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Ellis and Danny Ellis.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home.
