Marie Bass

Funeral services for Marie Bass, 85, of Brookeland, Texas, will be held Monday, April 18, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Huntington with Brother Vic Bass officiating. Interment will follow in the Jonesville Cemetery.

Mrs. Bass was born November 15, 1925, in Huntington, Texas, to the late Johnnie Aubrey (Welch) and Lester Tanner. She died Saturday, April 16, 2011 at her residence in Brookeland.

Mrs. Bass was retired from the Purchasing Department of the Deep East Texas Council of Governments. Formerly of Diboll, she had resided in Brookeland for the past four years.

Mrs. Bass is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Barbara Bass of Sam Rayburn, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Ruth and Jeff Overton of Jasper; grandchildren and their spouses, Tisha and Rick Fuhr of Friendswood, Buddy and Mindy Bass of Austin, Jake and Shana Overton, and Kayla Overton, all of Shreveport; great grandchildren, Lindsey Lee of Austin, Matthew Fuhr, Madison Fuhr, both of Friendswood, Marley Bass, and Sabine Bass, both of Austin; niece and husband, Aubra and David Broaddus of Huntington; and nephew and wife, Joe and Martha Tanner of Diboll.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jim Tanner; and husband, Eddie Harvest Bass.

The family will receive friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
