Geraldine Holland Hovey

Memorial services for Geraldine Holland Hovey, 82, of Huntington will be held Saturday, February 20, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the Huntington United Methodist Church with Reverend Martin B. Doran officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hovey was born March 23, 1927 in Angelina County, Texas to the late Ouida (Nerren) and Tom H. Holland, Sr., and died Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at her residence.
Mrs. Hovey was a 1943 graduate of Huntington High School. She worked as a secretary in the oil and gas business in Lafayette, Louisiana, and also as a legal secretary in Lafayette as well as Seattle, Washington. Mrs. Hovey worked for General Electric in Huntsville, Alabama and Houston during the Apollo era of NASA. She returned to Huntington in 1982 and was a member of the Huntington United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Sharon Gates Murrell and husband Bill of Huntington; granddaughter, Susan Murrell Cornett and husband Neal of Fort Worth; brother, Tom Holland, Jr. and wife Fay Nell of Huntington; and her ""other daughter"", Gretchen Huckabay of Lafayette, Louisiana.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon at the Huntington United Methodist Church.
