Funeral services for Nell Rose Grubbs, 76, of Wells, will be held Monday, November 22, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. in the Calvary Baptist Church of Wells with Brother Horace Fletcher and Brother Grant Hanes officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Mrs. Grubbs was born September 28, 1934, in Winnsboro, Texas, to the late Florence (Allen) and Plummer Miles. She died Friday, November 19, 2010 in a Lufkin nursing facility.
Mrs. Grubbs was a nurse and had been employed with Dr. Watson for 18 years. She was also a homemaker and a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. She dearly loved her family. Mrs. Grubbs was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church of Wells, and had lived in Wells most of her life.
Survivors include her husband, Earl Grubbs of Wells; daughter and son-in-law, Jill and Wendell Smith of Forest; sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Billy Steptoe of Moss Hill, Texas; brother and sister-in-law, Bobby Ray and Renee Miles of Mabank; grandchildren, Kaitlin Smith, Caroline Smith, Nicole Ferguson, Chris Choate, Justin Choate, Rochelle Goodwin and Marty Goodwin; eight great grandchildren; as well as a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Preceding Mrs. Grubbs in death were her parents; her first husband, John Goodwin; her son, Ray Goodwin; and her daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Calvin Choate.
Pallbearers will be Billy Steptoe, Billy Ferguson, Jinx Greenville, Bobby C. Greenville, Jeff Morris and Les Goff.
Honorary pallbearers will be Carrol Hearne, Roy Joe Bailey and Dick Greenville.
Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 2400 Augusta Dr., Suite 252, Houston, Texas 77057-4989.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
