Funeral services for Rabon Lewis Martindale, 94, of Lufkin will be held Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Danny Cryer and Pastor Eddie Roberts officiating. Graveside services with military honors will follow in the Whitehouse Cemetery.
Mr. Martindale was born June 24, 1916 in Jasper County, Texas to the late Lillie Maud (Lindsey) and Luther A. Martindale, and died Saturday, January 8, 2011 in a local nursing home.
Mr. Martindale served in the U.S. Army and retired from Sun Pipeline after 35 years of employment. He had been a mason for 50 years. Mr. Martindale was a member of Harvest Baptist Church, and served as a deacon for 49 years at various churches.
Survivors include his wife, Millie (Byrd) Martindale of Lufkin; daughter, Karen Fregia of Corpus Christi; son and daughter-in-law, Lanny and Linda Martindale of College Station; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Hazel Singletary of Kirbyville; and special friend, Gaylon Rodrigues.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Martindale was preceded in death by his son, Donald Martindale; and son-in-law, Ben Fregia.
Pallbearers will be Gaylon Rodrigues, Ronnie Hawkins, Jack Griffin, Larry Felts, Jerald Sanders and Ronnie Lawver.
Memorial contributions may be made to Harvest Baptist Church, 6565 S US Highway 69, Lufkin, Texas 75901.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
