Memorial services for John Wendell Haney, 77, of Lufkin will be held Thursday, March 25, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Believers Bible Church with Dr. Bob Klund officiating. Private family graveside services will be held in the Garden of Memories Memorial park.
Mr. Haney was born January 14, 1933 in Douglass, Texas to the late Della (Bradshaw) and J.M. Haney, and passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2010 in a local hospital.
A former resident of Huntsville, Mr. Haney had resided in Lufkin for 13 years. He was a devout Christian and an Elder of his church, Believers Bible Church. One of his proudest accomplishments was the Men's Bible Breakfast, which he founded and cooked for.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Carolyn Conn Haney of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, John and Amy Haney of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Bo Fisher of Pasadena; grandchildren, John Wendell Haney III, Anna Elizabeth Haney and Michael Barrett Haney; sister, Fleda Haney Earles of Nacogdoches; brothers and sisters-in-law, Brax and Mollie Haney and Max and Betty Haney, all of Lufkin; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Haney was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Odessa and Jack Goodson; brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Peggy Haney; and brother-in-law, Charles L. Earles.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Men's Bible Breakfast at Believers Bible Church.
