Funeral services for Aloise Tompkins Wallace, 86, of Lufkin, will be held Tuesday, May 25, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin. Interment will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery.
Mrs. Wallace was born September 20, 1923, in Lufkin, Texas, to the late Lois (Gibbs) and Jesse Glenn Tompkins. She died Saturday, May 22, 2010 in Lufkin at Hospice in the Pines.
Mrs. Wallace was a homemaker and a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. She enjoyed playing bridge, gardening, Sunday School, Bible Study, and visits with her daughter, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of Lufkin's First United Methodist Church. During her married years, she loved to hunt, fish and camp. She loved family fish fries and family reunions. Mrs. Wallace had lived in Lufkin for the past 30 years, and previously resided in Lake Jackson.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Sue Wallace Duvall and Duncan Duvall of Fort Worth; granddaughter and husband, Julie and Charlie Tenney of Cedarburg, Wisconsin; grandson, Alan Duvall of Fort Worth; great grandchildren, Jessica, Molly, Katherine and Sam Tenney; sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy and Edd Kenley of Crockett, Lou Howard of Illinois; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Tompkins, Bess Wallace, Sue Wallace, both of Lufkin, Sandra Wallace of Spring, and Ann Wallace of Mesquite; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Mrs. Wallace was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Wallace, and brother, Arnold Tompkins.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice in the Pines, 116 S. Raguet, Lufkin, Texas 75904.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
