Funeral services for Junior Helton, 71, of Diboll will be held Monday, November 1, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Walter Futch and Reverend Keith Woolf officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Mr. Helton was born January 9, 1939 in Houston County, Texas to the late Daisy (Oldham) and Ovid C. Helton, and died Friday, October 29, 2010 in a local hospital.

A former resident of Lufkin, Mr. Helton had resided in Diboll for 28 years. He was previously employed at Lufkin Daily News and Perco Distributors. In his earlier years, he was a member of the National Guard. Mr. Helton loved playing guitars with his friends.

Mr. Helton was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. His life was an example of the fruits of the Spirit listed in Galatians 5:22, love, joy, peace, long suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance.

Survivors include his
wife of 28 years, Viress Helton of Diboll; daughter and son-in-law, Debi and David Read of Lufkin; sons, Craig Helton and Mark Helton, both of Lufkin; stepsons and daughters-in-law, Donnie and Darlene Kee of Lufkin and Jimmy and Pam Kee of Diboll; stepdaughter, Patricia Henderson of Diboll; grandchildren, Jeremy Read, Jason Read, Cody Helton, Chelsey Helton, Jessica Helton, Mark Helton, Jr., Brandon Helton, Melanie Tieperman, Brandi Wheaton, Kris Henderson, Kari Simon, Jon Henderson, Joshua Kee, Justin Kee, Jimmy Kee, Jr., Jacob Kee and Jake Mitchell; 20 great-grandchildren; sisters, Odell Lowe of Livingston and Odeane Ellisor of Lufkin; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Rolston and Dixie McDuffie of Diboll; and numerous additional relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Helton was preceded in death by his brother, O'Neal Helton.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Read, Jason Read, Cody Helton, Kris Henderson, Jon Henderson and Jimmy Kee, Jr.

Honorary pallbearers will be Charlie Mullins, Carroll Green, Wayne Hodges, Dean Lee, Charlie Mann and Bobby Ryan.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Baptist Church Building Fund, 2909 East Lufkin Avenue, Lufkin, Texas 75901.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
