Carrey Joe Herring

Graveside services for Carrey Joe Herring, 61, of Wells will be held Saturday, February 12, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. in the Berry Cemetery with Brother Horace Fletcher officiating.

Mr. Herring was born October 24, 1949 in Angelina County, Texas to Doris Fay (Jones) and Andrew Anderson Herring, and died Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at his residence.

Mr. Herring had resided in Wells for 13 years. He was a heavy equipment operator, and was last employed with Langston Construction. Mr. Herring enjoyed camping and cooking and loved all children, including a special young man, Cole Morris Montgomery.

Survivors include his wife of 13 years, Carolyn Goodwin of Wells; daughters and son-in-law, Melissa and Lynn Courtney of Zavalla and Michelle Lofton of Lufkin; sons, Carrey Joe Groze and Vernon Andrew Groze, both of Lufkin; mother of his children, Nancy Herring of Lufkin; stepsons and wives, Luther and Kelly Whitehead of Huntington and Michael Paul and Shea Whitehead of Hudson; 17 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; mother and stepfather, Doris Fay and Thomas Reppond of Pollok; brothers and sister-in-law, Rickie Herring and Stacy of Lufkin, Richard Herring of Austin, Grady Herring of Pollok and Randy and Toni Herring of Central; sisters and brothers-in-law, Kathy and Jerry Holloway of Zavalla, Linda and Wayne Madden of Pollok, Jean and Tommy Boles of Pollok, Vickie Rector of Pollok and Melody and Amos Wallace of Pollok; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his father, Andrew Herring; brother, Jerry Herring; and sister, Patricia Herring.

Pallbearers will be Rickie Herring, Richard Herring, Grady Herring, Randy Herring, Kenneth Nerren and Steven Jones.

Honorary pallbearers will be Tracey Nerren, Ralph Adams, Mark Nerren and Josh Courtney.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon Saturday at the funeral home.
