Funeral services for Karen D. Carter (Letney), 48, of Lufkin, will be held Tuesday, October 26, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. in the Calvary Baptist Church in Nogalus Prairie with Pastor Jeff Robinson officiating. Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery.

Karen was born June 20, 1962, in Alexandria, Louisiana, to Francis (Duncan) and Clifton Moore. She was adopted by Bobbie Virginia (Duncan) and the late Arlzie A. McMullen. Karen died Saturday, October 23, 2010 in a Lufkin hospital.

Karen was a homemaker and a home school mother. She loved to go to the beach. She loved her church, Southside Baptist Church, and was the head greeter at the church. She had lived in Lufkin for the past 5 years, and previously resided in Nogalus Prairie for 30 years.

Survivors include husband of 14 years, Gary Letney of Lufkin; sons, Justin Carter, Clinton Carter and Daryl Carter; mom and stepdad, Francis and Charles Stowe; dad, Clifton Moore; adoptive mom, Bobbie McMullen; dad, Papa Frank Duncan; mom, ""AuntE"" Ernestine Duncan; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Eunice and Herman Letney; brothers, Clifton Scott Moore, James Brian Moore, Kevin McMullen, Brian McMullen, David McMullen, Tim Jones, Bill Duncan; sister, Lisa Griffin; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Calleise and Heath Johnson; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Greg and Lori Letney, Bo and Darlene Letney; nieces and nephews, Todd Griffin, Lauryn Griffin, Kristin, Nikki and Blake Letney, Katie, Kallie and Abby Letney; great nephew, Tuff; Godchildren, Christopher White, Jessica White and Ryan White; best friends, Jennifer White Cummings, Linda Jones and Darlene Havard; as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Karen was preceded in death by her adoptive dad, Arlzie McMullen; brother, Jeff Stowe; her first husband, James D. Carter; and nephew, Keith Letney.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Whisenant, Taylor Hayes, Cody Strange, Casey Pinner, Travis Settleff and Zac Kesler.

Honorary pallbearers are ""My Boys"": Aaron Oliver, Darren Bryan, Michael Hayes, Thad Williams, Casey Urbi, Ryan Settleff, Orrin Pinner, Ty Vick, Dustin Hight, Cody Lilly, Dakota Renfro, Todd Griffin, Blake Hamilton and Michael Shipley; and ""The Girls"": Michelle, Monica, Cady, Jamie, Christen, Melissa, April, Carrie, Dawanda, Elizabeth, Sydney, Kasie, Emily and Meagan.

Memorials may be made to the Mission Fund at the Southside Baptist Church, 1615 Tulane Drive, Lufkin, Texas 75901.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening, October 25, 2010, at the Calvary Baptist Church at Nogalus Prairie.
