Funeral services for Robert Wayne ""BeeMan"" Hightower, 58, of Lufkin, will be held Monday, May 10, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Bro. Keith Woolf officiating. Interment will follow in the Berry Cemetery.
Mr. Hightower was born June 8, 1951, in Lufkin, Texas, to the late Archie (Miller) and Flurier Hightower. He died Friday, May 7, 2010 at his residence.
Mr. Hightower was a retired driver for U.P.S. and had lived in Lufkin all his life. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea. He enjoyed bee keeping, syrup making, gardening, raising horses and mules, and storytelling. Mr. Hightower was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Shannon and Jim Henderson of Frisco; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jim Hightower of Lufkin, Delwin and Linda Hightower, Charles Hightower, all of Nacogdoches, Oscar and Fran Hightower of Lufkin, Windle and Donna Hightower of Huntington, Bobby and Monica Hightower of Lufkin; sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and Kenneth Pinner, Manda Reynolds, Nell and Robert Walker, Carrie and Kenneth Clegg, and Mary Whitley, all of Lufkin; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives; and special friend, Sara.
Pallbearers will be Keith Gaston, Steve Walker, Ray Hightower, Jason Hightower, Curtis Hightower, Craig Hightower, Grant Hightower and Joey Teer.
Honorary pallbearers are Jeremy Torres, Ken David Clegg, Jeffrey Hightower, Donald Ray Hodges, Sonny Smith, Jason Fatheree, and the employees of U.P.S.
Memorial contributions may be made to Berry Cemetery, 4770 FM 842, Lufkin, Texas 75901.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
