Glendon Ray Phillips

Funeral services for Glendon ""Ray"" Phillips, 61, of Huntington, will be held Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Huntington with Pastor Kenneth Sandel and Dave Olrich officiating. Interment will follow in the Shofner Cemetery.

Mr. Phillips was born April 6, 1949, in the Rocky Hill Community of Angelina County, Texas, to the late Glenda F. (Golden) and Glendon J. (Tip) Phillips. He died Saturday, August 28, 2010 in a Lufkin hospital.

Mr. Phillips had resided in the Huntington area most of his life. He had been a self-employed truck driver for 30 years. Mr. Phillips served his country in the U.S. Marines. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and he loved driving trucks and Harley Davidson motorcycles.

Survivors include his wife of 5 years, Nancy Phillips of Huntington; sons, Shelton Lee Phillips and Paul Phillips, both of Huntington, Rick Hatridge of Twin Falls, Idaho; daughter and son-in-law, Wendy Alaine Phillips and Jeff Howle of Hudson; step-children and their spouses, Debora and Durand Silva of Tucson, Arizona, Wendell and Melissa Ayers of Huntington, Scharlene Ayers of Ruidoso, New Mexico; a number of grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, DeWayne and Ann Phillips, Daniel and Bobbie Webster, all of Huntington; sisters and brothers-in-law, Glenda and Bob Atchison of Center, Pamela Webster of Huntington, Sheila and Gary Wideman of Oklahoma City; stepmother, Sue Phillips of Lufkin; stepsisters, Ruby Garrett, Rebecca Dows, both of Lufkin; aunt, Mary Sue Smitheart of Lufkin; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Mr. Phillips was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Andrea Phillips; and brother, Eddie Phillips.

Pallbearers will be Branndon Goodson, Skyler Vaughn, Jeremy Ayers, Paul Scruggs, Steve Phillips and Daniel Atchison.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home in Huntington.
