Funeral services for Esther Lee Thomas Miller, 80, of Huntington will be held Saturday, February 20, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the Thomas Crossing United Pentecostal Church with Brother Carlos Martinez, Brother Bobby McCollum and Brother Willie Wade officiating. Interment will follow in the Sims (Rocky Hill) Cemetery.
Mrs. Miller was born September 1, 1929 in the Thomas Crossing Community of Angelina County, Texas to the late Bertha Cordelia (Arnold) and John Milton Thomas, and died Wednesday, February 17, 2010 in a local nursing home. She was a descendant of James Henry Francis Thomas, who was one of the settlers of the Thomas Crossing Community.
A former resident of Clute, Mrs. Miller had resided in Huntington for 18 years. She retired from Brazosport ISD and was a member of the Thomas Crossing United Pentecostal Church.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Miriam and Ned Cortemelia of Hearne, Katherine ""Kathy"" and Bobby McCollum of Corsicana, Paula Parrish of Huntington and Freda Miller-Hanneman and Stephen Johnson of the Rocky Hill Community; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Jesse A. Miller on September 27, 2008. Reverend Miller and Sister Esther Lee were the founders of the Hudson United Pentecostal Church.
Pallbearers will be Brian Parrish, Matthew Parrish, Michael McCollum, Jeffrey McCollum, Edward King and Jimmy King.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home in Lufkin.
