Leon Lowe Dickson

A Celebration of Life service for Leon Lowe Dickson, Jr., 85, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, February 20, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the Denman Avenue Baptist Church with Brother Charles M. Roberts and Reverend Wert Campbell officiating. Graveside services will be held Monday, February 22, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in the Woodlawn Garden of Memories in Houston.
Mr. Dickson was born October 10, 1924 in Austin, Texas to the late Louella (James) and Leon Lowe Dickson, Sr., and died Wednesday, February 17, 2010 in a local hospital.
A former longtime resident of Houston, Mr. Dickson had resided in Lufkin since 1986. He was a retired Research Engineer for Shell Development Company. Mr. Dickson was a member of Denman Avenue Baptist Church and the Bible Survey Sunday school class.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Miriam Dickson of Lufkin; daughters and sons-in-law, Rebecca Sue Dickson of Lufkin, Deborah Ann and Ron Geiser of Tucson, Arizona and Cynthia Gail and Coy Jennings of Houston; son and daughter-in-law, Thomas William and Katherine Dickson of Boise, Idaho; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Robert William and Betty Dickson of Houston; sister and brother-in-law, Patricia Ann and Corky Lewis of Three Rivers; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bob and Lou Albrecht of Austin; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Dickson was preceded in death by his son, David Leon Dickson in 1995 at the age of 43; and sister, Mary Albrecht.
