J.R. Osburn

Funeral services for J.R. Osburn, 74, of Lufkin, will be held Monday, May 10, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Brother Keith Woolf officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Wells.
Mr. Osburn was born December 13, 1935, in Fairplay, Texas, to the late Nannie Lee (Birdwell) and Johnny Osburn. He died Thursday, May 6, 2010 in a Lufkin hospital.
Mr. Osburn was the founder and salesman of Osburn Sanitation for 14 years. He had lived in Lufkin for the past 45 years, and formerly lived in Henderson for 29 years. He served in the National Guard, and attended the Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Lavern Osburn of Lufkin; his children and their spouses, Pam and Kelly Ainsworth, Cathy Osburn, Janet Schroeder, Jena Schroeder, Jan and Mike Ivy, Victor and Julie Matteson, and Randy Matteson, seventeen grandchildren, including two grandsons serving on active duty with the military; fifteen great grandchildren; sister, Anna Mae Freeman; numerous friends and other family members; and his special dog, Candy.
Mr. Osburn was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and two sisters.
Pallbearers will be Kelly Ainsworth, Mike Ivy, Jason Boykin, PFC Dutch Schroeder, SPC Matthew Ivy, Bruce Clifton, Jeff Hutson and Chris Hughes.
Honorary pallbearers are Lexie Gregg, Gerald Simmons and Cody Sargent.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
