Funeral services for Buddy Burnett, 75, of Lufkin will be held Monday, July 12, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Horace Fletcher officiating. Interment will follow in the Narrow Way Cemetery.
Mr. Burnett was born October 17, 1934 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Elizabeth (Sims) and Obie Burnett, and died Friday, July 9, 2010 in Gilmer, Texas. He grew up in Lufkin, and had resided in Ore City for 40 years, where he worked for the City of Ore City for 20 years. Mr. Burnett loved to fish.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Norma Burnett of Lufkin/Ore City; son, John Burnett of Ore City; daughters and sons-in-law, Connie and Darrell Wade of Arlington, Karen and Phil Simmon of Tyler, Mae McKeating of Gilmer, Ruthie and Chris Turner of Ore City and Nancy Howard of California; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, J.T. Burnett of Lufkin; sisters and brother-in-law, Shirley and Ed Norris of Wells and Geraldean Rogers of Corrigan; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Burnett was preceded in death by several sisters.
Pallbearers will be Ed Norris, Maston Murphy, James Murphy, Phil Simmons, Willie Murphy and Billy Murphy.
Honorary pallbearers will be Cliff Murphy.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
