Grace Guerrero

Funeral services for Grace Guerrero, 66, of Lufkin will be held Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. in the Trinity Baptist Church with Dr. Walter Futch and Reverend Dennis L. Webster officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Mrs. Guerrero was born May 19, 1944 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Ellen Mae (Sanchez) and Frank Navarro, and died Friday, July 9, 2010 in a local hospital.

Mrs. Guerrero was a lifetime resident of Lufkin. Her 30 years of volunteer service began with Community Action. Mrs. Guerrero also volunteered at C.I.S.C. for 24 years, the Salvation Army for 10 years, and at the Joe W. Elliott House. She organized the Toys for Tots program for the Lufkin Jaycees. Mrs. Guerrero was a charter member of Trinity Baptist Church and was a Sunday school teacher for the 4 & 5 year old class.

Survivors include her husband, Gilberto Guerrero, Sr. of Lufkin; sons and daughters-in-law, Gilberto, Jr. and U.S. Army Master Sgt. Olivia Guerrero of Killeen and Randall Scott and Jackie Guerrero of Temple; daughters and son-in-law, Ellen Guerrero of Lufkin and Debbie and Jesus Rodriguez, Jr. of Diboll; grandsons, Dakota Guerrero, Nicholas Rodriguez and Andrew Rodriguez, all of Diboll; granddaughter, Olivia Isabell Guerrero of Magnolia; sisters and brothers-in-law, Maggie Armstrong, JoAnn and Thomas Anderson, Carmen Carrell, all of Lufkin, and Alice and Reverend Duane Mills of Weches; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Roger Burton, Tommy Carver, both of Lufkin, and Horace Sims of Livingston; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Guerrero was preceded in death by her son, Frank Guerrero; sisters, Carolyn Burton, Ruby Carver and Kitty Sims; and brothers-in-law, Kenneth Carrell and James Armstrong.

Pallbearers will be Dakota Guerrero, Nicholas Rodriguez, Ray Pike, J.W. Byars, Doug Barnett, Joey Mullins, Robert Jones and Randall Peck.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice in the Pines, 116 South Raguet Street, Lufkin, Texas 75904.

The family wishes to express their appreciation for the excellent care provided by Hospice in the Pines.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 Monday evening at the funeral home.
