Funeral services for Charles F. Pruett, Sr., 81, of Lufkin will be held Monday, April 5, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jeff Robinson, Reverend Joe Carriere and Reverend C.G. ""Buster"" Grigg officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery under the auspices of the Lufkin Masonic Lodge #669 A.F. & A.M.
Mr. Pruett was born August 12, 1928 in Austin, Texas to the late Lilly B. (Williams) and Colly Pruett, and died Friday, April 2, 2010 in a local hospital.
Mr. Pruett had resided in Lufkin since 1963 and retired from International Paper following 21 years of service as an electrician. He was a member of the Lufkin Masonic Lodge #669 A.F. & A.M. and attended Southside Baptist Church. Mr. Pruett was a University of Texas fan, and an avid Houston Astros fan, and at the end of every season he would say, ""See ya next year boys"". He loved people and his dog ""Buddy"".
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Irene Pruett of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Charles F., Jr. and Kim Pruett of Waco; daughters and son-in-law, Betty A. and Bill Gibson of Moore, Oklahoma, Janet Futhey of Garland, Judy Myers of Grapeland and Carol Vines of Lufkin; brother, Don Simons of San Marcos; sisters, Lou Groff of San Antonio, Martha Shockie of Mullens and Clara A. Simons of San Antonio; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Pruett was preceded in death by his daughter, Bonnie Harkrider; son, Meck Myers; and brothers, Fritz Simons and Thomas Simons.
Pallbearers will be Davin Myers, David Myers, Eric Myers, Derrick Vines, Bryce Vines, Casey Vines, Alex Myers, Tanner Myers, Cody Pearson and Jim Nerren.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Monday afternoon at the funeral home.
