Funeral services for Charles Henry ""Charlie"" Collins, 67, of Huntington, will be held Saturday, September 11, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Huntington with Brother Joe Sawyer officiating. Interment will follow in the Cochran Cemetery.
Mr. Collins was born August 29, 1943, in San Augustine, Texas, to the late Sylvia (Norwood) and T.W. Collins. He died Thursday, September 9, 2010 in a Lufkin hospice facility.
Mr. Collins had resided in the Huntington area most of his life. He was a carpenter and foreman for T.W. Collins & Sons. Mr. Collins was a member and Deacon for more than 30 years of the First Ora Missionary Baptist Church, where he also served as teacher of the Men's Class. He loved to play with his grandbabies and his beloved dog, Sandy. Mr. Collins was an avid fisherman.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Mary Helen Collins of Huntington; son, David Collins of Huntington; daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Randy Moody of Huntington; granddaughters, Clare Moody and Emma Moody, both of Huntington; brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Ruby Collins of Huntington; sister-in-law, Maudice Collins of Broaddus; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Wanda Parker; brothers, Clifford Collins and Harold Collins; and sister-in-law, Frances Collins.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Ora Missionary Baptist Church, 110 Faye Jones Road, Huntington, Texas 75949.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home in Huntington.
