Dalton Gilbert Conner

Celebration services for Dalton G. Conner, 80, of Lufkin will be held Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Denman Avenue Baptist Church with Brother Charles M. Roberts officiating.
Mr. Conner was born December 7, 1929 in Hemphill, Texas to the late Dossie O. (Love) and Wiley Gilbert Conner, and died Monday, February 22, 2010 in a local hospital.
Mr. Conner had resided in Lufkin most of his life. He served in the U.S. Army and retired from Consolidated Communications (formerly Lufkin Telephone Exchange) following 38 years of service as a field draftsman. Mr. Conner was a member of Denman Avenue Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Jean Conner of Lufkin; daughter, Cheryl Conner of Lufkin; daughter-in-law, Lillie Conner Horton and husband Joey of Lufkin; grandson, David B. Long and wife Talisha of Kingsville; granddaughters, Deborah Miedema and husband Troy of Schertz and Chrissy Conner Rich and family of Cedar Park; great-grandsons, Bryce Long and Jake Miedema; great-granddaughters, Lillie Miedema and Anne Miedema; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Wiley and Patsy Stroud of Fairfield, Charles and Patsy Stroud of Hewitt and A.J. and Doris Stroud of Rogers, Arkansas; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Margie and Herald Hugdahl of Arlington; special friends, Mary Madden, Jessie and Betty Forrest, Wayne Haglund, Birdie Bell Williford, Ronnie Davis and Ardie Dixon; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Conner was preceded in death by his son, Ricky Lynn Conner.
Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Chandler, Wayne Haglund, Ronnie Davis, David Long, Troy Miedema, Joey Horton, and members of the 64-75 Sunday school class at Denman Avenue Baptist Church.
