Zatha Lee Roach Chandler

Funeral services for Zatha Lee Roach Chandler, 94, of Lufkin will be held Friday, June 18, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Coy Roach officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Mrs. Chandler was born January 15, 1916 in Trinity County, Texas to the late Corilla (Howard) and Hubert Lee Springs, and died Tuesday, June 15, 2010 in a local nursing home.

Mrs. Chandler had resided in Lufkin more than 50 years, and owned and operated the Shady Nook Trailer Park. She was an avid hunter, enjoyed fishing, and loved to cook. Mrs. Chandler was a member of Herty Baptist Church.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Donald L. and Earlene Roach of Houston; grandchildren, Shelia and Jay Cummings, Michelle and Ricky Modisette, Don and Veronica Roach, and Desha Prevatt; great-grandchildren, Danille Higman, Reagan Prevatt and Don A. Roach; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Chandler was preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Chandler; father of her children, Clarence Roach; and daughter, Rita Roach VanEman.

Pallbearers will be Jay Cummings, Richard Modisette, Garner Spring, Bill Hopson, Jon Linzy, Gary Spring and Don D. Roach.

Honorary pallbearer will be Rusty Mills.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
