Mrs. Davis was born May 14, 1933 in Moscow, Texas, to the late Jim and Lucy Gage. She died Thursday, February 10, 2011 in Lufkin, Texas of lung cancer.
Mrs. Davis spent her childhood in Caney Creek, attending school in Chester. She married Robert Duane Davis on February 17, 1956. He was the love of her life. They had many great years together, and lived in Texas and Arkansas. They especially enjoyed spending weekends with family and friends in Shepherd and Lake Livingston. They were loving and terrific parents to daughters, Angie and Amy. Sadly, they were separated by death in 1981 when Mr. Davis died of a sudden heart attack. She never remarried; however, she spent her remaining years in service to others. She had a very generous heart and placed no attachment on material things. Her career was bookkeeping, and she worked 19 years for Channel Bearing and Supply in Pasadena, Texas. She retired in 1995 and moved fulltime to Lake Livingston Estates #3. She was very active in the HOA, serving as secretary for 19 years. She dearly loved all her family and friends at LLE#3 and spent some of her happiest years in this community. She was affectionately known as ""Aunt Mary"" by many. Due to illness, she relocated to Lufkin in early 2009 to be closer to her daughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert (Bud) Davis; sisters, Velma Davis, Faye Lehman, Adell Kramer and Lucy Underdown; and son-in-law, Jim Carr.
She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Angie and Duane Hartman of Lufkin, and Amy Carr of Cedar Park, Texas; she was ""granny"" five grandchildren including Ashley Posey, Sam, Robert and Tyler Hartman, and Landon Carr; sisters, Margaret Smith and Betty Scambray; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Randy and Irmgard Davis of Kingwood, Ernest M. Davis of Livingston, Renee and Gary Herdt of Caldwell, Idaho; as well as many nephews, nieces and friends, whom she dearly loved.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ernest Davis, Randy Davis, Brian Davis, John O'Banion, Tommy McCollum, and Tunny Green.
In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Davis requested that memorials be made to Hospice in the Pines, 116 South Raguet, Lufkin, Texas 75904.
The family would like to thank Doctors Kyle Krohn, Abraham Cheriyan and M. Khan for their exceptional medical care and dedication.
The family will receive friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home.
