Bobbie J. Rhodes

Funeral services for Bobbie J. Rhodes, 71, of Huntington will be held Sunday, February 13, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Reverend Jacob Fitzgerald, Reverend Gary Forrest and Reverend Roger Fancher officiating. Interment will follow in the Fielder Cemetery.

Mrs. Rhodes was born August 22, 1939 in Lufkin, Texas to Gladys (Waller) and Sidney J. DuBose, and died Wednesday, February 9, 2011 in a local hospital.

Mrs. Rhodes had resided in Angelina County most of her life. She graduated from Hudson High School in 1957 and was the Church Secretary at Herty Baptist Church for many years. She was a current member and treasurer of Bald Hill Baptist Church, and was very active in her church life. Mrs. Rhodes was active in Relay for Life, enjoyed crocheting, and loved hunting and watching her hummingbirds.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Charlie Rhodes of Huntington; sons and daughters-in-law, Greg and Johnna Rhodes of Katy, and Barry and Cherise Rhodes of Omaha, Nebraska; grandchildren, Evan Rhodes, Katie Rhodes, Maitland Rhodes and Aaron Poteet; mother, Gladys DuBose of Huntington; brother and sister-in-law, S.J. and Caroline DuBose of Blanco; brothers-in-law and wives, Leslie and JoAnn Rhodes, and Carol and Eileen Rhodes, all of Lufkin; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as her beloved school classmates and church family.

She was preceded in death by her father, Reverend Sidney J. DuBose.

Pallbearers will be Evan Rhodes, Maitland Rhodes, Aaron Poteet, Jake Wimberley, David Burris and Steve Waller. Honorary pallbearers will be Brad DuBose and David Rhodes.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home.
