Linda Brooks Vann

Funeral services for Linda Brooks Vann, 66, of Lufkin, will be held Sunday, June 6, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. in the Heritage Baptist Church in Lufkin with Pastor Jim Housley and Reverend Josh Luellen officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Wells.
Mrs. Vann was born March 16, 1944, in Carthage, Texas, to the late Helen Marie (Koonce) and Thomas Chester Brooks. She died Friday, June 4, 2010 in a Lufkin hospital.
Mrs. Vann was retired from Woodland Heights Medical Center following 17 years of service. She was also a homemaker and a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. She loved her animals, or her ""babies,"" as she called them. These include her dog, ""Dixie,"" her cat, ""Precious,"" a Boston bull terrier named ""Tony,"" and a yellow lab named ""Peavy."" She also enjoyed playing computer games. Mrs. Vann was a member of Heritage Baptist Church and had lived in Lufkin for the past 49 years.
Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Charlie Vann of Lufkin; sons and daughters-in-law, Charles ""Bo"" Vann of Katy, Gary and Debbie Vann of Woodville, John and Carmen Vann of Hot Springs, Arkansas; granddaughters, Krystle VanPelt of Kirbyville, Amber Vann of Woodville, Kandace and Kelsey Vann, both of Hot Springs, Arkansas; great grandchildren, Bailey Michelle VanPelt of Kirbyville, Trenton Levi Allen of Hot Springs; sister and brother-in-law, Diane and Richard King of Nacogdoches; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by a son, Michael Vann.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Dewayne King, Christopher King, Kenny Rocka, Paul Vann, James Vann and Greg Rocka.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Heritage Baptist Church, 1910 South John Redditt Dr., Lufkin, Texas 75904.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home.
