Memorial services for Howard E. ""Ed"" Skidmore, 71, of Lufkin will be held Friday, March 19, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Allentown Congregational Methodist Church with Brother Richard Joseph officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.
Mr. Skidmore was born January 31, 1939 in Junior, West Virginia, the son of the late Claude and Alma (Moore) Skidmore. He died Saturday, March 13, 2010 in a Lufkin hospital.
Mr. Skidmore was a retired Sergeant First Class for the United States Army, following 21 years of service. He was also retired from the Louisiana Department of Corrections. Formerly a resident of Deridder, Louisiana for 32 years, he had lived in Lufkin for the past 3 years.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Elaine Skidmore of Lufkin; four children of whom he was extremely proud, Donna Krise and her husband Frank of Lufkin, Harold Skidmore and his wife Linda of Beaumont, David Skidmore and Scott Somerville of Emigsville, Pennsylvania, and John Skidmore and his wife Katie of Spring; six grandchildren, Tim Skidmore, Aaron Krise, Sadie Gordon, TJ Gordon, Reilly Skidmore and Maggie Skidmore; sisters, Eleanor Bibey of Hillsboro Beach, Florida and Sue Spencer of Elkins, West Virginia; brother, James Skidmore of Phillipi, West Virginia; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
