Tim was born October 31, 1979 in Lufkin, Texas, and he passed away Thursday, February 24, 2011 at his residence.
Tim was a loving father, son and brother. He loved his kids very much. He also loved the game of football, and excelled in it. He was a graduate of Lufkin High School, where he was a member of the Panther Football Team and was named All District in 1997. Tim graduated from Stephen F. Austin University, with a Bachelors degree in kinesiology. For the past nine years, he was employed with R&K Distributing as an On-Ground Supervisor. Tim loved his job and his employees. He was also an outdoorsman, and loved to hunt. Tim was a member of Herty Baptist Church, and had lived in Lufkin all his life.
The following tribute was written for Tim by his Uncle Joe Ditsworth in 1996:
Among the Mighty
A pretentious title you might think? Don't be so quick to judge before we have a chance to examine the issue. During this time, during this year, during this football season, and on this team, this man took his place and earned his title. In the trenches with unsung heroes, they shoulder the burden where the battle is toughest. Protecting the backfield and opening holes, sacrificing themselves in pursuit of their goals. The goal is to win and to this they are committed, their cry ""never give up, never ever quit,"" instilled with the ideas to conquer, overcome, and persevere against imposing odds. Goals and ideas to apply to academics, athletics, and life. Win or lose these are the traits that build character. Hard work, determination, learning to focus on academic goals and achievements; these are but a few of the many good traits and skills they take with them from ""THE GAME."" For the rest of their lives, everyone will look back and say that they were better for it. But that's the future, and we'll all look back and remember it during that time, that year, that season, and on that team, that TIM took his place among the mighty. Win or lose? I think not! How can you lose? You have won by just being a part of the experience of ""THE GAME.""
Tim is survived by his daughter, ""little princess,"" Emelia Payton Ditsworth of Tyler; his son, ""his little champ,"" Gunner Drew Ditsworth of Lufkin; his parents, David and Debbie Ditsworth of Lufkin; brothers and sisters-in-law, Michael and Veronica Ditsworth, Adam and Keri Ditsworth, and Andrew Ditsworth, all of Lufkin; nephews, Hunter and Conner Ditsworth, Jace and Jacob Ditsworth, all of Lufkin; grandparents, James and Ruth Flowers of Lufkin; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends; and his special pet, ""Tanner.""
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Edgar and Patsy Ditsworth.
