Funeral services for Jessie LaVerne Rhodes, 71, of Lufkin, will be held Monday, March 28, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Brother Ronnie Frankens officiating. Interment will follow in the Ryan Chapel Cemetery.
Mrs. Rhodes was born June 26, 1939, in Angelina County, Texas, to the late Edna Faye (Winthrop) and William David VanSchoubroek, Jr. She died Thursday, March 24, 2011 at her residence.
Mrs. Rhodes was a retired nurse and a member of the Homer United Pentecostal Church. She had resided in Lufkin all her life.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Angela Rhodes of Lufkin, Don and Wilda Rhodes of Brownwood, and Kelley and Linda Rhodes of Lufkin; daughters and son-in-law, Kathy and Billy Loftis of Virginia, and Lynn Landrum of Floresant, Colorado; seventeen grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; and great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Rhodes was also preceded in death by her husband, Richard Stewart Rhodes, and her daughter, Shannan Fridell.
Pallbearers will be Billy (BJ) Loftis, Jr., Lil' Wayne Rhodes, Jr., Carl Putnam, Jarrod Pinner, Mark Phillips, Jared Landrum, Steven Landrum and Andrue Fridell. Honorary pallbearers will be Will Fridell, Bradley Rhodes, Chase Rhodes, Jerry Don Gage and Jamie Gage.
The family will receive friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
