Curtis Gerald Vanschoubroek

Funeral services for Curtis VanSchoubroek, 69, of Lufkin, will be held Sunday, January 30, 2011, at 1:30 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Dr. John W. Greene officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Curtis was born November 22, 1941, in Angelina County, Texas, to the late Willie (Arnold) and E.N. VanSchoubroek. He died Thursday, January 27, 2011 at his residence.

Curtis was a retired Conductor for the Southern Pacific Railroad after 20 years of service. He was a loving husband, devoted father and ""Paw Paw."" Mr. VanSchoubroek was an avid outdoorsman and cattleman. He was a member of Harmony Hill Baptist Church and had lived in Lufkin all his life.

Survivors include his wife, Melva Lynn VanSchoubroek of Lufkin; son, Gerald VanSchoubroek of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Angela VanSchoubroek of Lufkin; four grandchildren, Casey VanSchoubroek, Cody VanSchoubroek, Morgan VanSchoubroek (Paw Paw's Little Dumpling), and Hunter VanSchoubroek; sisters and brothers-in-law, Marvis Nell and Don Smith of Huntsville, Imogene and Claude Montes of Nacogdoches; brother-in-law, E.B. Bailey of Lufkin; best friend, Homer Kent Singletary of Lufkin; special nephew and spouse, Kenneth and Debra Spears; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and a host of loyal friends.

Curtis was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Elaine Spears.

Pallbearers, Kevin Montes, Dennis Montes, Randy Montes, Gary Davidson, Homer Kent Singletary and Sidney Johnson.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at Carroway Funeral Home.
