Robert Dale Williamson

Funeral services for Robert Dale Williamson, 70, of Huntington, will be held Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Huntington with Dr. Darryl Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Shofner Cemetery.

Mr. Williamson was born February 23, 1940, in Spur, Texas to the late Thelma (Parker) and Richard Lee Williamson. He died Saturday, January 1, 2011 at his residence.

Mr. Williamson was a retired car salesman, and had owned and operated D&P Auto Sales for 20 years. He loved to fish, camp and travel. He also loved anything that his grandchildren were involved in, and he loved to laugh. Mr. Williamson was a member of the Huntington First Baptist Church and the Seeker Sunday school class. Formerly of Odessa, he had lived in Huntington for the past 32 years.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Pat Williamson of Huntington; sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Sandra Williamson of Odessa, Allen and Cynthia Williamson of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Troy Stanbery of Huntington; grandchildren, Andrea Hensley, Angela Saturly, Phillip Ritcheson and wife Cheesa, Greg Williamson and wife Rachel, Brianne Williamson, Blake Stanbery and Morgan Stanbery; seven great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Clifton Williamson and Gatha Williamson; one sister, Peggy Wiginton; great granddaughter, Deanna Petsch; and mother-in-law, Mary Pickrell.

Pallbearers will be Greg Williamson, Blake Stanbery, Johnny Williamson, Mark Williamson, Craig Rankin and Keith Rankin.

Honorary pallbearers will be J.W. Beard, Coy Lee Wilson, Billy Rains, Gotha Gully, Ray Saxton, Larry Rankin, Dean Worley, Corbin Leathers and Tracey Winn.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home in Huntington.
