Henry LeRoy Mallicoat, Jr., 82, of Zavalla died Friday, April 9, 2010 in a Huntington nursing facility. Burial will be in the Zavalla Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Mr. Mallicoat was born December 14, 1927 in Hannibal, Missouri to the late Inez (Smith) and Henry LeRoy Mallicoat Sr. He had been a self-employed truck driver and a longshoreman. Mr. Mallicoat served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, and was a decorated soldier. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. Mr. Mallicoat had resided in Zavalla for the past 29 years.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Cheryl Mallicoat of Zavalla; daughter and companion, Patty Jo Chavez and Randy Evans of Zavalla; grandsons, Joe Mallicoat and wife Crystal of Zavalla, Colin Chavez of Jacksonville; as well as a number of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Mr. Mallicoat was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Mallicoat, and great grandson, Joseph (Cody) Mallicoat.
Honorary pallbearers are Joe Mallicoat, Don Miles, Richard Miles, Dale Ray Townsend and Michael Bryan.
