Graveside services for Edith Crystal (Pitts) Thompson, 92, of Pollok will be held Sunday, March 14, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the Gann Cemetery with Reverend R.G. ""Bud"" Davis officiating.
Mrs. Thompson was born February 13, 1918 in Nacogdoches, Texas to the late Clemmie (Rice) and A.R. Pitts. She died Friday, March 12, 2010.
During her working career, Mrs. Thompson had worked for Mathew-Miller Department Store, had been the owner and manager of the Central Grocery, and had been the manager of the Cantina at the Lufkin State School. She had also been very involved in the Central Community with 4-H, the P.T.A., and the Gann Cemetery Board. Mrs. Thompson was a very active member of the Allentown United Pentecostal Church.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Patsy and James Baker, Henrietta and David Coleman, all of Pollok; granddaughters, Jalane Eddins of Dallas, Jamie Sirman of Pollok, and Daveta Wood of Houston; great-grandchildren, Corley and Carter Sirman of Pollok, Rachel and Mitchell Eddins of Dallas, Cole David and Edi Crystal Wood of Houston; as well as a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, H.H. (Tink) Thompson in 2006; grandson, Rex Herschel Coleman in 2010; and five brothers.
