Funeral services for Willie ""Bill"" Edgar Moore, Jr., 86, of Lufkin, will be held Monday, October 11, 2010, at 1:30 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Reverend Raymond Dunkin and Reverend Fred Smith officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in the Walker Cemetery.

Mr. Moore was born September 30, 1924, in Redland, Angelina County, Texas, to the late Mary Ola (Brevelle) and Willie Edgar Moore, Sr. He died Friday, October 8, 2010 in a Lufkin hospice facility.

As a young man, Edgar left Jeff Davis High School in Houston to be one of our fighting Marines of World War II. He enlisted on November 11, 1942, attaining the rank of Sergeant while serving in the Asiatic-Pacific area. Upon returning to the States, he married and raised a family in California. Upon retirement from the DEA, he returned to the Redland Community, his childhood home, to be with family, cousins and friends. He met Minnie sometime later, married her, and together they had fifteen wonderful years.

Edgar is survived by his wife of 15 years, Minnie Moore of Lufkin; their combined family, Gary and Merry Moore of Ukiah, California, Cathye Julianno of Lufkin, Robert and Susan Moore of Escondido, California, Linda and Mike Murphy of Corrigan, Pamela and Juan Foster of Tyler, and Martha and Eddie Butler of Lufkin. Among these combined families, there are thirteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, living from Alaska to California to Texas to Connecticut, and even in England. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Vernon and Dorothy Moore of Houston, and numerous other relatives and friends of the East Texas Community.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Moore was also preceded in death by one sister, Melba Moore, and a grandson, Mark Moore.

Pallbearers will be Mike Murphy, Caleb Murphy, Thomas Murphy, Juan Foster, Matthew Butler and Jeff Burns. Honorary pallbearers are Eddie Butler and Sam Whisenett.

The family extends special appreciation to A Pineywoods Hospice, A Pineywoods Home Health, and Hospice in the Pines.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
