Funeral services for Elmer O. ""Beau"" Brumble of Lufkin will be held Saturday, August 28, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Andy Pittman officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Mr. Brumble was born in Palestine, Texas to Elmer O. Brumble, Jr. and Sue (Mangum) Brumble, and died Saturday, August 21, 2010 in Gunnison, Colorado.
Mr. Brumble was a member of Lufkin's First Baptist Church. He had two careers. He sold insurance in Lufkin for many years. He also taught school and coached in Diboll, Central (of Pollok), Crosby, and finally retired in Katy, Texas. He coached in the Lufkin Youth Baseball program for many years. He was a member of the Southwest Basketball Officials Association for 14 years.
Mr. Brumble was a past president of the Lufkin Jaycees. He coached a Lufkin Youth Flag Football team in the first year it was formed by the city.
Mr. Brumble served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a huge fan of the Texas Longhorns and summers in Colorado.
Mr. Brumble attended the University of Texas for three years where he lettered on the freshman basketball team, and served as President of his pledge class of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. He graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with a BBA and a Master of Education.
He was predeceased by his parents, E.O. and Sue Brumble and his sister, Joy L. Lauderdale.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Brumble; his daughter, Stacey Bourgeois and son-in-law, Dale Bourgeois of Magnolia, son, Ronald P. Brumble and daughter-in-law, Blanca Brumble of Virginia and son, Robert M. Brumble and daughter-in-law, Eva Brumble of Lufkin; grandchildren, Brandy and Jeff Bruce of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Sara and Nehemiah Hanson, Laura Brumble, Brittni Brumble and Jeremiah Brumble; one great-grandchild, Ashton Bruce; stepmother, Millie Brumble of Lufkin; stepdaughters, Wendy Thornton, husband Kelly and children Samantha and Caroline of Huntington and Trina Jones and husband Michael of Newman, Georgia; and nephews, Michael Lauderdale and David Lauderdale.
Pallbearers will be Dale Bourgeois, Jeff Bruce, David Lauderdale, Kelly Thornton, Michael Jones, Mike Lauderdale and Nehemiah Hanson.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Barnabas Sunday school class of Lufkin's First Baptist Church and all those who have ever played on a team coached by, or taught by Coach Brumble.
Memorial contributions may be made to Lufkin's First Baptist Church Mission Fund, 106 East Bremond Avenue, Lufkin, Texas 75901.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
