Helen Parrish Anderson

Graveside services for Helen Parrish Anderson, 79, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, February 26, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Helen Parrish Anderson completed her Earthly journey Monday, February 21, 2011. She was born to Doss and Altie Mae Parrish September 26, 1931 in Shelby County, Texas where she attended Excelsior Public School and Center High School. She married the love of her life on June 27, 1953. She and John Anderson danced around the world in their adventurous life together raising two daughters, delighting in two grandchildren and creating lifelong friendships along the way. They were active members of The Pine Squares and Lufkin Polka Dots, charter members of the East Texas Cloggers and the first Presidents of SPJST Lodge 191. Helen also proudly served as an officer in the Pilot Club of Lufkin.

Her quiet strength, kindness, generosity and joy of life are an inspiration and comfort to all who knew her.

Survivors include her
daughters and sons-in-law, Dyann and Don Slosar and Debi and Arturo Ruiz Esparza; her favorite granddaughter, Catherine; as well as her sister and brother-in-law, Inez and Glenn Campbell; and 23 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John and grandson, Austin.

In lieu of flowers she requested donations be made to the SPJST Lodge 191, P.O. Box 3113, Lufkin, Texas 75903.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
