Funeral services for Andrew ""Jack"" Hughes, 73, of Livingston will be held Friday, July 9, 2010 at 11:30 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel.

Mr. Hughes was born December 1, 1936 in Ashford, Alabama to the late Emma Lee (Lewis) and Joe Sie Hughes, and died Monday, July 5, 2010 in Livingston.

A former resident of Lufkin, Mr. Hughes had enjoyed living and fishing on Lake Livingston for over 20 years. He retired from Champion Paper Mill following 43 years of employment.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Elsie Hughes of Livingston; daughter, Patricia Gibson of Nederland; sons and daughter-in-law, Randy and Donna Hughes of Waxahachie, Robert Whitley and Danny Whitley, both of Corrigan; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; brother and sister-in-law, Ron and Mona Hughes of Austin; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Hughes was preceded in death by his daughter, Vanedatta Joyce Hughes; son, John L. Whitley; brothers, Earl Benjamin Hughes, Joe Murl Hughes, John Elbert Hughes, Malcolm Lee Hughes and Manuel Paul Hughes; and sister, Constance Lee Dupree.

Pallbearers will be Robert Whitley, Robert Grimes, Donovan Hughes, Bob Bristow, Sammy Bodine and James Burden.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Kilsby and Ronnie Hughes.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
