Ruth Mcduffie Allen

Graveside services for Ruth McDuffie Allen, 85, of Lufkin were held Tuesday, January 25, 2011 in the Gann Cemetery with Dr. Andy Pittman officiating.

Mrs. Allen was born September 9, 1925 in Angelina County, Texas to the late Lelia (Swor) and Edgar Daniel McDuffie, and died Saturday, January 22, 2011 in a local hospital.

As a helpmate to her husband of 57 years, she moved with him to Lindsay, Oklahoma as he worked with Chevron Oil Company as a production supervisor. They returned to Lufkin in 1964. Mrs. Allen was a member of Redland Baptist Church.

Survivors include her
daughters, Janice Holcomb and Deborah Sterling, both of Lufkin; grandchildren, Justin Holcomb and wife Kelly of Kingwood and Julia Joseph and husband Chris of Lufkin; great-granddaughters, Ayla Holcomb and Katherine Holcomb, both of Kingwood; sister, Virginia Golden of Lufkin; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her husband, A.C. Allen; sons-in-law, Michael Sterling and Bill Holcomb; sister, Ann Booth Dozier; and brother, Charles McDuffie.
