Funeral services for Josh Cavins, 27, of Lufkin will be held Thursday, September 9, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in the Lufkin First Assembly of God Church with Pastor Andy Salagaj and Pastor Alvin Vanderleast officiating. Interment will follow in the Largent Cemetery.
Josh was tragically taken from us before we were ready, on Saturday, September 4, 2010 in Kemah. He was born September 25, 1982 in Peru, Indiana. Josh attended Hudson High School. He married his high school sweetheart and loving wife, Tiffany Garcia, April 8, 2006. Josh was a very proud father of MacKenzie Jo Cavins and Joshuah Joe Cavins, Jr. He was the son of Marc and Shelly Zmijowski of Hudson. Josh was an avid Pittsburg Steelers and Texas Longhorns fan. He was employed at Jenkins Plumbing.
Josh was the grandson of Dick and Sherry Davis of Huntington and Cliff and Mary Cavins of Peru, Indiana; brother of Eric, Chase and Nathan Zmijowski; nephew of Debby Davis of Hudson and Richard Davis II of Huntington; great-grandson of Willis and Mary Whisler of Bradenton, Florida and Emogene Davis of North Webster, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his great-grandfather, Clark Davis of North Webster, Indiana. His cousins include Faith and Rachel Barrett of Hudson, Terence Hopper of Dayton, Ohio, Jacob Hopper of Embry Riddle's College Naval ROTC, Florida, Curtis Hopper of Fort Hood, Richard Davis III of Florida and Jessica Davis of Pennsylvania. He is also survived by his biological father, Clifford Cavins of Illinois; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Andrea McDaniel of Hudson and Kenneth R. Garcia of Lufkin; uncle, Ricky Havard of Nacogdoches; grandmother-in-law, Betty Havard of Lufkin; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, his biological grandmother and numerous half-brothers and half-sisters.
Pallbearers will be Eric Zmijowski, Michael Jenkins, Robert Mayberry, James Gibson, Curtis Hopper and Jamarcus Hadnot.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a fund set up for Josh's children at Huntington State Bank.
Josh continues to be loved and will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Please join our family in honoring Josh by wearing jeans and football jerseys.
If friends have motorcycles, please ride for Josh in the procession (helmets required).
