Marcia Dale Harris

Funeral services for Marcia Dale Harris, 73, of Hudson will be held Thursday, April 15, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother David Culp and Brother Bryan Lipscomb officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Mrs. Harris was born September 26, 1936 in Elizabeth, Louisiana to her parents, the late David Travis Cole and Avis Marion (Cavanaugh) Cole. She went home to be with the Lord Monday, April 12, 2010 in hospice care with her family at her side.
Mrs. Harris was a charter member of Providence Baptist Church for most of her life, and served as church secretary for many of those years, retiring in 2005. She was a 1954 graduate of Lufkin High School and married her husband, Denzel ""Dink"" Marion Harris, that same year. They remained united until his untimely death in 1989. Marcia and Dink made their home in Hudson and raised three loving children who all graduated from Hudson High School. Mrs. Harris was loved greatly by her family and friends and provided stability in their lives that will surely be missed. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mrs. Harris was a wonderful cook and loved to fellowship with family and friends and attended to many needs of her church family. She most of all enjoyed teaching the Mary Martha Sunday school class at Providence Baptist Church for many years. Mrs. Harris was a constant example in her faithfulness and reliance on her redeemer.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Keith Jones of Hudson; sons and daughters-in-law, Dale and Connie Harris and Matt and Katrina Harris, all of Hudson; grandsons and their wives, Justin and Megan Morehead, Joshua and Julie Harris, all of Lufkin, and Jacob and Heather Harris of Hudson; grandson, Jerrett Harris of Coppell; granddaughter and husband, Jade and Jimmy Thompson of Huntington; granddaughter, Abbe Anne Harris of Apple Springs; great-grandchildren, Hayden Harris of Hudson, Asher Thompson of Huntington and Ian Harris of Lufkin; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ida and Bill McFarland of Redland; sisters-in-law, Shirley Cole of DeRidder, Louisiana and Linda Cole of Clear Lake; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; three brothers, David Travis Cole, Jr., Milton Dennis Cole and Gary Truman Cole; and sister-in-law, Laverne Cole.
Pallbearers will be Justin Morehead, Jerrett Harris, Joshua Harris, Jacob Harris, Jimmy Thompson and Mike McFarland.
Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Berry, Paul Jordan, Boots Morehead, Scott Morehead, John E. Jones, Bill McFarland and James Fuller.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
