Samuel K. Kaemmerling

Funeral services for Samuel K. Kaemmerling, 85, of Lufkin will be held Friday, October 29, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Lufkin's First Baptist Church with Dr. Andy Pittman and Reverend Aubrey Knox officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Mr. Kaemmerling was born February 6, 1925 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Gertrude (Kerr) and Carl Kaemmerling, and died Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at his residence.

Mr. Kaemmerling was a lifetime resident of Lufkin. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and owned and operated Sam's Cabinet Shop for 40 years. He was a skilled craftsman in cabinetry. Mr. Kaemmerling was a member of Kiwanis and was a deacon and member of Lufkin's First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Glynda Kaemmerling of Lufkin; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Bonnie Kaemmerling, Calvin Kaemmerling, all of Lufkin, Edward and Beverly Kaemmerling of Rosenberg and Quintin and Leslie Kaemmerling of Sugar Land; daughters and sons-in-law, Ann Kaemmerling of Lufkin, Laura and Keith Wright of San Antonio and Sara Grace and Ryan Woodall of Dallas; 15 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Kaemmerling was preceded in death by his first wife, Edith (Barrow) Kaemmerling; and brothers, Perry Lee Kaemmerling and Harold Kaemmerling.

Pallbearers will be Mike Akridge, Dr. Richard Byler, Steve Hogue, Buford Abeldt, Ronnie Chastain and Ted Hancock.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of Lufkin's First Baptist Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Lufkin's First Baptist Church, 106 East Bremond Avenue, Lufkin, Texas 75901.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
