Funeral services for Mamie Due Strong, 97, of Lufkin will be held Sunday, February 6, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Neal Kemper officiating. Interment will follow in the Bennett Cemetery in Trinity County.
Mrs. Strong was born November 18, 1913 in the Crecy Community, Trinity County, Texas to the late Mina (Cockrell) and Ed Due, and died Wednesday, February 2, 2011 in a local nursing home. She was a homemaker, was very creative and enjoyed sewing. Mrs. Strong was a member of the Central Church of Christ.
Survivors include her brothers and sisters-in-law, Jap and Myrtis Due of Terrell and Max and Wanda Due of Groveton; sister, Bee Hughes of Lufkin; nephews, Roger Due, Randy Due and wife Julie and Lee Due; nieces, Leah Guerra and husband Mark, Dru Thomason and husband Wes and Tahryn Hughes; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews; and several great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Strong was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Albert Strong; sister, Marie Due; and nephew, Scaief Hughes.
Pallbearers will be Roger Due, Randy Due, Lee Due, Mark Guerra, Wes Thomason and Roger Sanders.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Bennett Cemetery Association, 227 Max Due Road, Groveton, Texas 75845.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon at the funeral home.
